Comic-Con 2010 Saturday: Fringe Panel

The Panel started off with a video showing the different scenes of season 1 & 2 like in last years Comic-Con panel. The main creators and the main 6 actors came out.
-They said that the major theme for season 3 will be "The Road Not Taken", I remember that last years theme was something like "Hidden things revealed". There will be lots of time spent in the alternative reality.

-Anna Torv said that Sam Weiss is real. ( I kind of wish that someone would have asked them to confirm the Sam Weiss clue in the finale. Blair Brown said that she thinks that the Alt-Nina would not care about control and she joked that Astrid is her and Broyle's love child.
-We will see Astrids apartment. The actress said that her Alt self is more anilitical and less emotional and caring then her regular self.

-The creators mentioned that Joss Wheden had said that Fringe has a good mixture of Myth andnon myth episodes. They spoke about how they will continue to alternate between myth and non myth episodes, but that they will try to slip more myth into most of the non myth ones. The Peter Weller episode was used as an example.
-The Creators spoke about the use of red in the Alt world and how they used that color both to differentiate between the realities and because red represented Firemen and how people think more favorably about them then the Police.

-I got in line to ask a question about if some of the dropped season 1 themes like the Peters adult backstory, the ZFT Bible, the Pattern, Peter favor to Nina and other things will pop up again, but I got sent away. A lot of the questioners were asking silly acting questions.
One of the things that will be explored in season 3 is the first people. Also that the Alt world knows things that our world does not like eletronics, etc.

Anna Torv Signing

Saturday morning the Fox booth handed out tickets for an Anna Torv signing and I didn't know about it. So I got in line behind the ticket holders along with some other people with the same hopes. We thought sure that we wouldn't get to go through because they were starting to send people away because the line was causing fire Marshall problems. But luckily the line was moving quick. In the line I spoke with 2 very vocal girls (but very nice) that told me that some moron was grabbing about 20 tickets (to scalp I'm guessing) and elbowed/pushed both of them when they said anything. I hate it when idiots do things like that. I just love all of the people that you run into in lines at Comic-Con, getting to hang out with this many people with common Geek interests has been awesome.
I have to say that normally I dislike actors. I'm sure that most of them are great, but a lot of them have very weird ideas that they feel a need to spout off on at every chance that they get. But ever since Lost come out and now Fringe its been a huge treat to be able to meet someone on the shows that I like. One thing about me is I sometime start babbling like an idiot when I get around celebrities. Its a huge blur but when I got up to Anna Torv for my turn to have a poster signed I vaguely remember saying something like "I love you" I tried to recover by adding something like how I loved her character. She smiled, but I could tell that she was thinking that I was another weird fan boy. I then gave here a print of the Olivia, Peter and Walter designs that I have made and she genuinely acted like she liked it. I then toke a picture for one of the girls in the line and got out of there.

Comic-Con 2010: EW Women Power Panel

EW Women Power Panel
I spent the morning wandering the hall and buying half off Graphic Novels, Transformers and other things. After that I got into the long and hot (since it was out side) line for Hall 20 the second biggest hall in the San Diego Convention Center.

Elizabeth Mitchell from from Lost and V, Anna Torv from Fringe and 3 other women from Scott Pigram and another movie spoke about being a woman in Hollywood, I was mostly interested in the Lost & Fringe stuff so that's what I'm reporting here.

Elizabeth Mitchell spoke about dangling in a well which received a huge response from the audience. She also spoke about how excited she got when she got her first flashback. Also how weirded out she was about her "The Other Woman" flashback.

One of the Movie actresses were talking about running around shooting guns and Anna Torv compared that to how she had recently been running around in a forest while shooting a future episode.

When asked about how nice it is that now women don't have to wear revealing clothes just like Men can now can show weaknesses, Anna Torv said that she was glad that her role always requires that she dresses up. She commented about how funny it was that on Fringe Olivia usually does all of the boy action stuff while the boys are usually found chatting in the kitchen.

Comic-Con 2010 Thursday around the show floor with my kids

Friday I drove down specially to give my boys their first Comic-Con experience. They loved walking around the floor and looking at costumes, statues, toys and much more.
At the Hasbro Booth there was an awesome Star Wars Hoth action figure display.

I've shown the old TV show to the boys so they loved seeing someone from Nickelodeon dressed up as him. I was excited because one of the reps told me that they were in the process of creating a new series!
While we were at the Lego booth someone who was making a Lego book asked for permission to take pictures of them looking at the display sets for the book. I have to sign some forms for that. I will be cool to see if they actually use it.

Saturn Awards 2010: Exclusive -- Anna Torv on ‘Fringe' Season 3

Sat., Jun. 26, 2010 5:30 PM PDT , by Joseph McCabe

Wondering what's in store for our heroes on Fringe in the wake of the parallel universe storyline that ended the show's second season? I spoke with star Anna Torv at Thursday's Saturn Awards, where the gorgeous star, after winning Best Actress, shared some of her thoughts on her character Agent Olivia Dunham's storyline, and where it's likely to go next. Hit the jump for my exclusive interview.

Torv began by confessing she knew very little about what lies ahead. "I don't know anything, and I know that people think that we're all lying, but none of us know anything. I just put in a call to Jeff, who's our show runner, just before our dinner started to say, ‘What are we doing?' He told me [a little], and I can't say anything except that – I'm sorry! – but I think they're gonna get to see a little bit more of the alternate universe, a little bit more of this one. That's all I got."

Torv added that she's thrilled with how the alternate universe has opened up the show. "When I first read the script – 'cause we don't really know anything, until we've read it – I was so excited about that. I think that it just opens the show up. I mean, I think the show is good – but it opens it up to a whole different kind of place. I don't know how far they'll go with it, but it is, in essence, like a kind of different show but not, and the possibilities of going between both worlds."

As for where she'd like to see her character go, Torv remarked, "I think I have ideas but everything got thrown up in the air when we did the cross to the other side, and then especially the way that the ended the season. So I don't know what's going to happen to her. I don't think she's going to be stuck in the cell for the whole season. So no, I don't think that they'll play the whole season with her in a cell, but I don't know how easily she's going to be able to escape back to her own reality. I don't even really know what I want. I'm just sort of starting to think about it."

Torv explained that while Fringe has its share of nightmarish images, in real life she gets pretty freaked out watching thrillers and horror films. "I was saying this to someone on the phone the other day. I've got so many friends that just love horror movies. I just get so, so scared from them. And I've been, I've just started to watch [them] and I freak out at the blood. What was Peter Jackson's first film? I think it's Dead Alive with the guy climbing out of the pipes scene and the zombies. He's a friend of mine, in New Zealand, and I tried to watch that – even that – and I couldn't. It was just too much. Just way too scared. Freddy Krueger I saw a picture of when I was ten years old, and I've never even watched the film again."

"It gave me nightmares," she laughed. "It's too terrible."

EW: 'Fringe' Exclusive: Amy Madigan cast as Olivia's mom

by Michael Ausiello

It’s not Rene Russo (a.k.a. my first choice) but this will do very nicely: Fringe has cast Amy Madigan in the pivotal role of Olivia’s mother, sources confirm to me exclusively.

The Oscar-nominated actress — who’s most recently played shrink to those head cases over on Grey’s Anatomy — will appear in roughly four episodes beginning with the season premiere when (and I’m just speculating here) mother and daughter reunite in the alterna-verse.

The original casting breakdown for Mama D. described her as “lovely and together” and deeply devoted to her daughter.
