Where is Peter Bishop?

Right here, folks! In this exclusive first-look at Fringe's Season 4 promo poster, fans finally get proof that the producers won't be playing games with our hearts by keeping Josh Jackson's recently evaporated character out in the ether for too long. In fact, as you can see from this Escher-meets-action ad, our boy is clearly back and seems poised for action alongside Liv, Walter and a lot of expectations when the show returns on Sept. 23 at 9/8c on Fox.

"This season we have earned [the right] for Peter to be more self-actualized," says executive producer Jeff Pinkner. "He's a huge component and key to the really big stuff we're [doing]."

Phew! So now that we know that, who has a theory about the fallen cubes imagery? And how excited are you for "Fringe Fridays" to fire up in three weeks?

Such banter between the alters will continue when the new episodes arrive. “Oh, they’re always cross with each other,” John Noble told me, two episodes into filming. “And the thing about having an argument with yourself is you can take the gloves off, and that’s what they’ll be doing — abusing each other. But ultimately they’ll have to resolve their issues.” As they address the mystery of their conjoined worlds, who will prove to be the smarter of the two? Sure, Walter lost some years in the bin, but his counterpart hasn’t exactly been chained to a lab Over There. “Walternate’s a pretty sharp dude,” says Noble, “but maybe he’s not on top of the science like Walter.”

Since the moment the credits rolled on FRINGE’s phenomenal third season finale one question has been on every fan’s mind. That question — no, not how on earth the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences continues to fail to recognize John Noble with a much deserved Emmy nod — but rather where is Peter Bishop?

“Because we finished off with the season so powerfully what you’ll see now is thread in through a mini arc of four episodes,” explained John Noble during a one-on-one with the the TV Addict in Los Angeles. “We thread in the feeling, the presence of and finally the manifestation of Peter.”

And while it probably won’t come as much of a surprise that Peter does in fact return, (Joked Noble, “Josh [Jackson] is our leading man of course he does [return!]“) what sure as heck will is that Peter’s reappearance may not mark the return of the Peter fans (Not to mention the two Olivias!) have come to know and love over the course of the past three seasons.

“What we do is find a way to bring Peter back in…. but not in the way he was before,” revealed Noble. “It’s grand for Josh because it gives him a chance to finally do another version of himself, which he hasn’t had before. So it’s a great pay off for Josh and it means that we get to rebuild somehow in a different way.”

But just how different will be Peter Bishop 2.0 (Peternate?) be? Noble, not surprisingly, was playing coy. To the point that the only thing he would tease is that the start of FRINGE’s fourth season will be eerily familiar to fans of the show who has stuck with it since day one.

“That wonderful humanizing element that we’ve had in FRINGE of Walter and Peter getting to know and love each other again and build up their relationship… we start the season without that,” said Noble. “”[When the season starts] Walter is still in the lab but he’s quite insane, agoraphobic, obsessive compulsive and under the guardianship of Olivia and Astrid. He’s just locked in and won’t go out of the lab, so that’s an interesting restart from my point of view.”

But he assures you it was in the name of several greater goods — including boosting the Peter/Olivia romance.
Reflecting on early this spring, at which time he first got word that Peter might cease to exist, Jackson tells TVLine, “They brought me in as part of the [creative] process at the end, because there was a lot of debate internally about whether to finish [the season] with that or not, because it is such a big thing to do. And I was very much on the pro side.”

Why would an actor vote in favor of his character disappearing? Jackson’s rationale was two-fold. “One, it was the right ending for that season’s story – it almost had to be,” he says of the story arc in which Peter confronted his destiny as the “trigger” for a doomsday machine.

Jackson’s second reason for validating Peter’s vanishing: “I was never a real huge fan of the Peter/Olivia storyline,” he concedes. “All of Fringe is on this epic scale, and that seemed kind of banal to me at the center of it.”

But now, in the wake of Peter’s season-ending act and its dire ramifications, his connection to Olivia (played by Anna Torv) “is on an epic scale as well,” Jackson notes. “This guy sacrificed himself for the woman that he loves, which made that relationship more interesting and it launched us into the off-season with this ‘Holy s—t!’ moment.”

Getting back to those fretting Fringe fans, I asked Jackson if he had words of reassurance, any sort of promise that they will get their fill of Peter (and thus him) despite a season-opening storyline that would seem to limit his presence. The gist of his missive: the show, and I, would never betray you.

“Part of the reason they ended up making the decision to go with that cliff-hanger is because there’s a belief, given how passionate our fans are, that there is a level of trust in us — and we are all keenly aware of not violating that trust,” he shares. “So as much as there was a freak-out and panic, it was done with the hope that everyone understands that we’d never [mess] with our audience, which has been so faithful to us and kept us on the air.

“It was just a case of stealing a page out of [executive producer] J.J. Abrams’ playbook,” he continues, “and keeping people on their toes with anticipation… and then hopefully satisfying their desire.”
http://www.fringetelevision.com/2011/08/joshua-jackson-cheers-fringes-vanishing.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+FringeTelevision-FanSiteForTheFoxTvSeriesFringe+%28Fringe+Television+-+Fan+Site+for+the+FOX+TV+Series+Fringe%29&utm_content=FaceBookPaul Burrowshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02423241437016431567noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778918251639819879.post-88619984081957368322011-08-02T12:23:00.000-07:002011-08-02T12:35:28.665-07:00Nerdy Shirts
I came upon Nerdy Shirts recently and I have to say that I’m extremely impressed. There are tons of Geek T-Shirt on-line stores out there, but none of them seem to have the selection that Nerdy Shirts has. More importantly I don’t think that I have ever seen a place with old school 8 bit Nintendo themed shirts. I really had a hard time selecting two shirts because of the great variety of shirts that I wanted. I ended up choosing the A Princess Bride themed shirt with a name tag that said “Hello my name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my Father, prepare to die”. I wish that they had shirts from the TV show LOST or FRINGE (hint, hint), but I felt that the store had enough nerd related themed shirts to warrant a review.
http://www.nerdyshirts.com/Paul Burrowshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02423241437016431567noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778918251639819879.post-41808722857525762202011-07-30T14:00:00.000-07:002011-07-30T14:08:53.113-07:00FRINGE PANEL at COMIC-CON 2011

Paul Burrowshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02423241437016431567noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778918251639819879.post-26786694259749147872011-07-30T01:34:00.000-07:002011-07-30T01:34:38.913-07:00FRINGE - Where is Peter Bishop? Wyman, however, wasn't as giving. "You know, that is an assumption," he replied when asked about how Peter would return to the series. "He will not be another identity."

"For us, we are really using Peter's story this season to explore a lot of the basic rules of the show, which are choices and connection," Pinkner added.

But Wyman and Pinkner were adamant in dispelling any theories that questioned whether the events in the season finale actually happened.

"It really happened," Wyman reassured. "What we are trying to do from a conceptual standpoint is have the audience understand that it happened and you know it did happen. We watched it and there has been a catastrophe and it needs to be righted. It will either right itself properly or it will go in a very negative way. Now you have to understand what those repercussions are going to mean."

He added, "Peter sacrificed himself. He was a selfless hero. There are sacrifices; a sacrifice wouldn't be hard if it was easy."

Before they decided to go ahead with the finale, there were discussions about the events that unfolded that would affect the trajectory of the series.

"Before we decided to actually pull the trigger and do that season finale, we convinced ourselves that it happened and we were willing to play with consequences," Pinkner said. "I think it ends up in a place that is really kind of beautiful."

"When we were toying with it, it is analogous to this," Wyman explained. "In Fringe, we get to tell the quintessential kidnapping story, not about a kidnapping but about crossing universes. We get to tell the love triangle with two people who are the same person. We get to reinvent these trite situations."

Pinker agreed: "And we have characters that really hold up a mirror to themselves, having a second Walter and having a second Olivia really exposes sides of their characters that you wouldn't otherwise get."
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/fringe-producer-peters-return-he-217303Paul Burrowshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02423241437016431567noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778918251639819879.post-65090765195890403292011-07-29T23:15:00.000-07:002011-07-29T23:15:35.967-07:00Fringe - Entertainment Weekly Comic Con 2011Paul Burrowshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02423241437016431567noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778918251639819879.post-41489890982158403222011-07-29T23:11:00.000-07:002011-07-29T23:13:45.857-07:00Comic-Con 2011: Fringe InterviewPaul Burrowshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02423241437016431567noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778918251639819879.post-70054129089413208322011-07-28T22:36:00.000-07:002011-07-28T22:40:30.648-07:00Digital Spy: 'Fringe' John Noble hints at Walter fateThursday, July 28 2011, 9:49am EDT
By Morgan Jeffery, TV Reporter

Fringe star John Noble has revealed that his character Walter will struggle with insanity once again next season.

In the Fox sci-fi drama, Walter regained some of his faculties with help from son Peter (Joshua Jackson), but Peter was erased from history in the third season finale.

Noble explained: "Walter came out of that [psychiatric] hospital three seasons ago, and he was... pretty insane. [But if] he didn't have Peter to help him, he'd still be insane, so initially I think we'll see that."

He continued: "[Walter will] still work for Olivia and he'll still be brilliant, but he doesn't have that lovely softening element of a family."

However, Noble insisted that Peter will eventually return to restore the show's status quo, despite Joshua Jackson's recent claim that he had not returned to filming on Fringe.

"It's not going to last forever," Noble said. "We can't live without Josh Jackson!"
http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/s118/fringe/news/a332160/fringe-john-noble-hints-at-walter-fate.htmlPaul Burrowshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02423241437016431567noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778918251639819879.post-6359992452311806722011-07-26T00:00:00.000-07:002011-07-26T00:07:20.410-07:00Comic-Con 2011: Around the Exhibit Hall<img style="width: 240px; Before it was always Charles Xavier vs. Magneto. But since Cyclops has been leading and Wolverines has basically been his hitman and since they have always had a shaky trust / working relationship something finally happens to cause them to have a huge break, so much so that half of the X-Men are going to believing with Wolverine and the new dynamic will be Cyclops ideology vs. Wolverines with will replace the Professors X’s peace with Human’s ideal vs. Magnetos crush the humans before they crush us ideal. Cyclops has always been survival and drawing inwards. So I’m guessing that Wolverines side will be something that’s the opposite of that. It should be interesting. Bad thing though is that Uncanny X-Men is around issue 540 and after the big break they are going back to #1 with Uncanny X-Men and Wolverine and the X-Men, so unless they eventually go back to the old numbering we won’t have a #600 celebration or higher. (Which is a possibility) But is seems like a cool story which will spin into other cool stories.Paul Burrowshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02423241437016431567noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778918251639819879.post-11110342454560177752011-07-25T23:30:00.000-07:002011-07-25T23:42:39.424-07:00Comic-Con 2011: Entertainment Weekly Lost RetropectiveI went to a “Lost: One Year Later with Jeff "DOC" Jensen & Dan Snierson Panel. They were talking about Jeff giving a gift to Dan of a Lost Deleted scene video and suddenly a Stormtrooper runs in telling them to stop and to not show the tape/ He rips his helmet off to reveal Carlton Cuse! Then someone else charges in in a Star Wars costume yelling that the tape must be shown and it was revealed that he was Damon Lindelof! So they agree to finally show it but before they do Darlton talks about how they had made a scene in season one that proved that they did have things planned out since season 1. It was a fake deleted scene from the season one finale Exodus with Locke & Jack arguing about how they were all brought there by the island and it showed Jacob and MIB in the background watching them and discussing about how MIB had become the Smoke Monster, Jacob bringing everyone to the island and MIB made fun of Jacobs island/bottle analogy. Very funny, it’s great to see how well Darlton can make fun of each other.

The rest was a Q & A

What would you change? Damon Only 5 seasons Carlton: No Tattoo episode. LOL -- (Some artist went through some natural disaster and so Carlton bought a bunch of prints of a Lost characters in a Star Wars poster to give away to all those who ask questions.)

Any blowback from ABC for the religious aspects (Rose praying with Charlie example)? No ABC was really supportive of it they really tried to represent all religions.

Why couldn’t Widmore and Ben kill each other? Because they believed that they couldn’t.

Who was in the season 5 outrigger? There are unanswered questions in life just like the show. (Dodge) They purposely withheld the answer from the show because trying to answer it caused too many problems.

I asked them if Libby’s back story was always supposed to be what we saw on screen. (I sited the crazy fan rumors about Libby being a spy for Widmore or her ex-Husband dying in the deck accident that Hurley caused and her wanting revenge) They told me that what was on the screen had always been planned.

Walt Question. Never was going to answer WHY Walt was special. They said that the why questions are not ones they really should be answering. Walt was there to show that there were people who were special. Along with Miles Hurley Locke etc.

They revealed that Michael Giacchino was in the audience. Afterwards I gave a set of Lost Trading Cards to Jeff Jensen and Dan Sniderson.Paul Burrowshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02423241437016431567noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778918251639819879.post-45079806858222543262011-07-25T23:17:00.000-07:002011-07-25T23:29:43.471-07:00Comic-Con Report: Jay & Jack get togetherFriday night I went to a Lost get together hosted by Jay & Jack of the Jay & Jack Podcasts and was able to meet Kris White, the guy who ran the Official Lost Podcasts with Darlton. We talked about his experience with making the podcasts with Darlton, along with a personal Graphic Novel writing project that he has set up through Kickstarter which allows people to donate to his project and gain things like early copies of the book, being made a character in the book and other things and he plans on using the money to pay an artist for the illustrations. Damon Lindelof has given him a referal along with other writers.

The website is http://the36.net/Paul Burrowshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02423241437016431567noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3778918251639819879.post-43528106526198428532011-07-25T23:08:00.000-07:002011-07-25T23:15:21.774-07:00Comic-Con 2011: The ugly incident at the Fox BoothThe next day I went down to the Fox booth early to get a ticket for the Fringe signing but it was such a mob and the stupid booth people kept telling everyone the wrong place to go. I was on one side and they told us to go to the other side this went on for a few minutes and during that time there was almost two fights and people almost got trampled. I didn't worry about myself since I'm sturdy, but I worried about some of the smaller people. They had to close the ticket give outs so I missed out. I could have gotten in the line at the end during the time of the actual signing like I did last year for a possible chance, but then I might have missed the actual Fringe Panel.Paul Burrowshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02423241437016431567noreply@blogger.com0
