Comic-Con 2011 Fringe Panel

I rushed and got in line for the Fringe Panel and got in to the previous Vampire Diaries Panel and then was able to make it up closer when that panel ended.

The Fringe Panel was awesome, I got into the Q & A line at the beginning and they started like always with a clip real that highlighted all of the main characters. Then all of them came out, the two main showrunners Jeff Pinkner & JH Wyman, along with Anna Torv (Olivia), John Noble(Walter), Lance Reddick (Broyles), Blair Brown (Nina), Jasika Nicole (Astrid) and Seth Gabel (Lincoln Lee) (who is becoming a full time cast member.)

John Noble said: “You guys are the best fans that ever existed, thank you from all of us very sincerely”. Pinkner & Wyman said “We’ve got to address the elephant in the room. Somebody’s not here — Gene booked milk commercial.” They spoke about how they decided to let go of Joshua Jackson them because of how expensive he was so they had auditions for a new actor to play Peter and they showed a clip of auditions Fringe Audition Tape: Rebecca Mader, Damon Lindelof, Michael Emerson, Greg Grunberg, Jeff Probst, Jorge Garcia and many others in [Peter Bishop] audition video.

J.H. Wyman said “There is no Peter. He doesn’t exist.” Joshua Jackson enters panel. Wearing Observer suit and fedora. Anna Torv asked If Peter doesn’t exist, is there a child? Pinkner said “I’m not sure we’ve seen all of Olivia’s powers yet. What’s going to happen is really hard to answer because we think it would spoil letting the show unfold.” Lance Reddick was asked to impersonate William Bell which was very funny. Joshua teases Lance about the impersonation and Lance replies “You don’t exist anymore so stop talking”John Noble has a soft spot for Walternate, he could understand why he would do what he did and the justifications. Josh Jackson later jokes with John Noble: “You shot my wife in the head!

Seth Gabel says he’s more like Over Here Lincoln. Joshua asked about whether he wishes that he had an alternate. Jackson enjoyed free time not having to play an alt-Peter, however S4 will take him to a different arena. “I don’t think Peter will ever have an alternate, but however he gets folded back into the story, it will be a very different version than what we’ve seen before. He’s in a different place now.” Jasika Nicole was asked something that she didn’t want to answer and started singing “Astrid has a gun”.

Pinkner/Wyman said “What’s been great about flashback episodes is that it’s deepened the emotions of these characters” / “We’ve loved them as well and it’s our intent to keep doing that. We’ll always go back and forward if it suits the story and the things we are trying to get across.” John Noble: “Walter and Nina have an affair in Season 5.” Joshua Jackson screams, “Mommmy!” (I got about 4 people away from the microphone when they cut the line off.)

The Cast then turn to ask the audience trivia questions for "Save Peter" T-Shirt prizes. Jasika asks: What type of sandwich did Walter make for Astrid when she was trying to crack the code in season three? Cucumber, avocado, cheese and tortilla chips. Anna Torv asks what color was Walter’s suit that he got married in. Purple. John Noble asks: Roscoe (Christofer Lloyd) was keyboard player in a band. What other instrument did he play on record cover? Drums. Blair Brown: “What did Peter promise Nina in equestrian ring in S1?” He would owe her a favor. The Panel swag was a luggage tag with a changeing picture on the front with the two Olivia’s on one side and the two Walters on the other with a disappearing and reappearing Peter in the middle. It said on the back “If found in this Universe or the other side, please contact:" with lines to fill out your address.

TV Line: Fringe Exclusive: Seth Gabel Returning Full-Time

Yea more Lincoln!!!!!!!

Michael Ausiello
Editor in Chief Looks like someone’s going to take advantage of that fancy new “bridge” between universes next season on Fringe — and that someone is Seth Gabel!

Sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that the actor — who has recurred the last two seasons as Bolivia’s “Over There” colleague, Lincoln Lee — will return in Season 4 as a full-fledged series regular.

Fringe Finale Exclusive: WTF Just Happened?! Producers Answer (Some) Burning Questions!

In a March episode, viewers finally met Linc’s “Over Here” doppelganger — a mild-mannered FBI desk jockey. But I think it’s safe to say it’s the immensely popular alt-Linc who will be the version we see more of come fall.

This marks Gabel’s first full-time series gig since he starred as silver-spooned brat Jeremy Darling on ABC’s Dirty Sexy Money.

Fringe Spoiler: New Intel on The Top-Secret ‘Bridge’

I’m going to go out on a limb and say Fringe fans will greet this news with open and loving arms. Feel free to back me up on that in the comments.

TV GUIDE: Fringe's Seth Gabel Previews the Lincoln Lee We Haven't Met Yet

Yea! Two Lincolns!

Fringe's Seth Gabel Previews the Lincoln Lee We Haven't Met Yet

Seth Gabel So far, we've only seen the "over there" version of Seth Gabel's Fringe Division badass, Lincoln Lee. But on next Friday's Fringe, he debuts as this universe's Lee and fans are in for a world of differences!

TV Guide Magazine: You realize fans love you, right? We want a Lincoln spin-off.
Gabel: Really? That would be amazing!

TV Guide Magazine: Well, he's so cool.
Gabel: I thought I would look like such a doofus holding a gun. It took me seeing that first "over there" episode to feel like, 'ok, I don't look like a fool." They tried really hard. We spent hours trying to figure out how to make me look like a scary intimidating person. [Laughs]

TV Guide Magazine: You're not an action guy?
Gabel: Not at all. I was so scared that I wouldn't pull it off. Once I saw myself being a scientist-slash-FBI hero, I felt more confident and relaxed.

TV Guide Magazine: So who is this Lincoln?
Gabel: He's in the FBI, but has no idea about Fringe Division. He's more of a desk jockey [who] eventually comes to believe there is much more than reality suggests.

TV Guide Magazine: Is he anything like alt-Lincoln?
Gabel: In his nature, he's kind of the same person, but raised under different circumstances. What's so fun about the doppelgangers is that you get to address the question of nature-vs-nurture. Because our doppelgangers are born typically into the same situations, but what happens to them after that is just slightly different. There's a butterfly effect and you get to see who that person becomes a completely different person. In Lincoln's case, Peter was in the world over here and became what Lincoln would have become... So Lincoln has been off doing something else and accidentally bumps into these people, which raises the question about fate and destiny. Are there certain people you're karmically intertwined with?

TV Guide Magazine: "Over there," Lincoln is so obviously in love with Bolivia.
Gabel: Yeah. And that evolves as the season goes on as well.

TV Guide Magazine: Does this world's version fall for Olivia, too?
Gabel: There's something very interesting about Olivia that I can't discuss. She should recognize him [from] the other universe, but something happens and things are a little different in this episode. I actually team up more with Peter, which is cool because I've never really worked with Josh Jackson. We end up getting this partner-crush on each other because we like solving these scientific mysteries together and we really hit it off. I don't get to spend a lot of time with Olivia, but given more time. I wonder of those feelings can bleed across universes.

TV Guide Magazine: Will we see more of Lincoln over here?
Gabel: They certainly set it up. They create room for two Lincolns to exist, which I am thrilled about.

TV Guide Magazine: Which Lincoln are you most like?
Gabel: The over here Lincoln is more like me because I feel more like a nerd who is just realizing that there is more potential there. [Laughs]

TV Guide Magazine: Any advice from your wife Bryce Dallas Howard's father, Ron Howard?
Gabel: He gives me great advice all the time, but the whole family is just so authentic and good... The best advice has been seeing how you can be a good person, work hard, and be rewarded for your effort.

E!: More Lincoln!

berry_hearts: I love Lincoln on #Fringe. Please tell me we will be seeing lots more of him!
Linc, Scarlie and Fauxlivia are all back this week. And when this ep airs, we'll have our preggo radar turned up to 11, because those rumors that Fauxlivia is preggo by Peter are just too destructively delicious to ignore.

Fringe "Olivia" Episode Review by Paul Burrows

Olivia was one of those episodes where I expected them to go down one path and they actually went down the one that I was a little fearful of, but there is logic to the choice and it should lead to some interesting stories. This episode was the part three of last year’s finale and as such is the one that wraps things up and points us in the direction of the new season and what an awesome ride it will be! The three things that stand out, are the differences between the characters in the two worlds, Olivia’s programing, and the taxi driver Henry Higgins.

We really got to see some of the minor Alternate characters in this episode. One of the biggest differences was Astrid, in the normal world she’s caring and puts up with Walter’s personality problems, but this Astrid is very proficient at her job and was able to hunt down the whereabouts of Olivia ruthlessly and without a second thought. Brandon the Massive Dynamic scientist in our world is kind of a “dude that’s cool” guy, but in the Alt-World he’s a creepy mad scientist without morals. Broyles didn’t have a difference in personality; except for the fact that he was lower key and casual dressed instead of the suits. Charlie was the same as his normal reality character and I was glad since he was my favorite minor character before they killed him off so it was great seeing him again. As for Olivia it was great how we were able to see both Olivia’s just in the Alt-World because of the brainwashing.

First off I actually wanted to see Olivia stay normal Olivia and continue to be on the run since that would have been cool, but there’s going to be some interesting things that will come out of this route also. It’s interesting to see though how many people really don’t know what Walternate is doing and even Broyles who does know some things is not allowed to know everything. It’s interesting to note that Olivia had been in captivity for three days according to Lincoln Lee, her Alt partner, so that was quite a bit of torture and brainwashing with all of her needle marks. The use of the medicine, her escape, Lincoln, Charlie and her Alt Mom was very effective in showing the process of her turning into the Alt-Olivia and her almost drunk laugh at the end was a little creepy. Which is why I’m glad that Henry the Taxi Driver was introduced.

Henry Higgins was the best thing about the episode because of the potential for what probably will happen during the first half of the season. The character Henry Higgins is the name of a stuck up old bachelor in the musical My Fair Lady who took a “Gutter Snipe”, Eliza Doolittle and refined her to become a Lady though the teaching of phonetics and other important things for becoming a lady. I liked how he didn’t believe her at first, but eventually came around. When I saw Henry at the end watching Olivia being driven away it made me think that he is going to be teaching or reminding Olivia of her real life just like Henry in My Fair Lady who taught Eliza how to be a real Lady. At the beginning of this review I mentioned that I didn’t like the fact that Olivia wasn’t going to be on the run this season, but the reason why the creators did this is because it’s the best way to set the show back to its established and successful mode of running things and still rotate back and forth between realities. This way Fringe can still have its freak of the week episodes with Olivia, Charlie, and Lincoln investigating strange occurrences in the Alt-World and Alt-Olivia, Walter & Peter investigating mysteries in the normal world. Plus the overarching story can keep progressing over the season.

“Olivia” was a good episode because it showed us more of the alternate characters, gave us some really good moments between Olivia and Henry Higgins and it wrapped up some things in the season Finale and set the tone for the rest of the season. Oh and make sure to watch closely both during the moment when the Opera House gets amberized and when Olivia visits the park where Massive Dynamic was supposed to be, there’s two Observer sightings in this episode.
