Comic-Con 2011 Fringe Panel

I rushed and got in line for the Fringe Panel and got in to the previous Vampire Diaries Panel and then was able to make it up closer when that panel ended.

The Fringe Panel was awesome, I got into the Q & A line at the beginning and they started like always with a clip real that highlighted all of the main characters. Then all of them came out, the two main showrunners Jeff Pinkner & JH Wyman, along with Anna Torv (Olivia), John Noble(Walter), Lance Reddick (Broyles), Blair Brown (Nina), Jasika Nicole (Astrid) and Seth Gabel (Lincoln Lee) (who is becoming a full time cast member.)

John Noble said: “You guys are the best fans that ever existed, thank you from all of us very sincerely”. Pinkner & Wyman said “We’ve got to address the elephant in the room. Somebody’s not here — Gene booked milk commercial.” They spoke about how they decided to let go of Joshua Jackson them because of how expensive he was so they had auditions for a new actor to play Peter and they showed a clip of auditions Fringe Audition Tape: Rebecca Mader, Damon Lindelof, Michael Emerson, Greg Grunberg, Jeff Probst, Jorge Garcia and many others in [Peter Bishop] audition video.

J.H. Wyman said “There is no Peter. He doesn’t exist.” Joshua Jackson enters panel. Wearing Observer suit and fedora. Anna Torv asked If Peter doesn’t exist, is there a child? Pinkner said “I’m not sure we’ve seen all of Olivia’s powers yet. What’s going to happen is really hard to answer because we think it would spoil letting the show unfold.” Lance Reddick was asked to impersonate William Bell which was very funny. Joshua teases Lance about the impersonation and Lance replies “You don’t exist anymore so stop talking”John Noble has a soft spot for Walternate, he could understand why he would do what he did and the justifications. Josh Jackson later jokes with John Noble: “You shot my wife in the head!

Seth Gabel says he’s more like Over Here Lincoln. Joshua asked about whether he wishes that he had an alternate. Jackson enjoyed free time not having to play an alt-Peter, however S4 will take him to a different arena. “I don’t think Peter will ever have an alternate, but however he gets folded back into the story, it will be a very different version than what we’ve seen before. He’s in a different place now.” Jasika Nicole was asked something that she didn’t want to answer and started singing “Astrid has a gun”.

Pinkner/Wyman said “What’s been great about flashback episodes is that it’s deepened the emotions of these characters” / “We’ve loved them as well and it’s our intent to keep doing that. We’ll always go back and forward if it suits the story and the things we are trying to get across.” John Noble: “Walter and Nina have an affair in Season 5.” Joshua Jackson screams, “Mommmy!” (I got about 4 people away from the microphone when they cut the line off.)

The Cast then turn to ask the audience trivia questions for "Save Peter" T-Shirt prizes. Jasika asks: What type of sandwich did Walter make for Astrid when she was trying to crack the code in season three? Cucumber, avocado, cheese and tortilla chips. Anna Torv asks what color was Walter’s suit that he got married in. Purple. John Noble asks: Roscoe (Christofer Lloyd) was keyboard player in a band. What other instrument did he play on record cover? Drums. Blair Brown: “What did Peter promise Nina in equestrian ring in S1?” He would owe her a favor. The Panel swag was a luggage tag with a changeing picture on the front with the two Olivia’s on one side and the two Walters on the other with a disappearing and reappearing Peter in the middle. It said on the back “If found in this Universe or the other side, please contact:" with lines to fill out your address.

Comic-Con 2010 Saturday: Fringe Panel

The Panel started off with a video showing the different scenes of season 1 & 2 like in last years Comic-Con panel. The main creators and the main 6 actors came out.
-They said that the major theme for season 3 will be "The Road Not Taken", I remember that last years theme was something like "Hidden things revealed". There will be lots of time spent in the alternative reality.

-Anna Torv said that Sam Weiss is real. ( I kind of wish that someone would have asked them to confirm the Sam Weiss clue in the finale. Blair Brown said that she thinks that the Alt-Nina would not care about control and she joked that Astrid is her and Broyle's love child.
-We will see Astrids apartment. The actress said that her Alt self is more anilitical and less emotional and caring then her regular self.

-The creators mentioned that Joss Wheden had said that Fringe has a good mixture of Myth andnon myth episodes. They spoke about how they will continue to alternate between myth and non myth episodes, but that they will try to slip more myth into most of the non myth ones. The Peter Weller episode was used as an example.
-The Creators spoke about the use of red in the Alt world and how they used that color both to differentiate between the realities and because red represented Firemen and how people think more favorably about them then the Police.

-I got in line to ask a question about if some of the dropped season 1 themes like the Peters adult backstory, the ZFT Bible, the Pattern, Peter favor to Nina and other things will pop up again, but I got sent away. A lot of the questioners were asking silly acting questions.
One of the things that will be explored in season 3 is the first people. Also that the Alt world knows things that our world does not like eletronics, etc.

Fringe Fans Want Jasika Nicole on Glee

Written By: Melissa BiJeaux (Staff Writer) on Friday, June 18, 2010 at 11:10am PST

Fans are used to speaking their mind via the internet, with the hopes of garnering the attention of the networks who host their favorite shows. Fringe fans are no different. Most recently, fan-created blog The Fringe Report has started a petition to get Jasika Nicole -- who plays the optimistic and loyal FBI junior agent Astrid Farnsworth -- to lend her vocal skill to FOX's Glee. And after hearing her exercise her musical muscles in Fringe's noir episode "Brown Betty," I think she'd fit right in with the Gleeks.

Nicole hails from Birmingham Alabama, and attended Catawaba College in North Carolina, studying theater, voice, and dance. She then traveled to New York City to pursue her career in the arts. She stared opposite Bronson Pinchot in The Musical "Chasing Nicolette," and most notably in the off-Broadway production of "Café a Go-Go." Recently, she appeared in the premiere of "Believe in Me...a Bigfoot Musical" in the 2004 NYC Fringe Festival.

Nicole is also an avid drawer, and has sold her drawings to an avid fan base online, including her own line of eco-friendly tote bags displaying her artwork. She also penned a comic called "High Yella Magic" which she is preparing to develop into a graphic novel.

If production scheduling didn't become a problem, as both shows will be airing during FOX's fall season, I wouldn't mind seeing Jasika hit some high notes on Glee. I, like many fans of Fringe, very much enjoyed hearing her showcase her vocal talent, and hope that if she can't score a spot on Glee, maybe the Fringe writers will pen another musical scene for Agent Farnsworth.

Noble: 'Fringe cliffhanger was stunning'

Wednesday, June 2 2010, 12:54pm EDT
By Catriona Wightman, TV Reporter

The cast of Fringe have discussed the cliffhanger at the end of the second season.

During the final episode, it emerged that Olivia's alternate had taken her place in this universe.

In a video on the Fox website, John Noble, who plays Walter, said: "It's stunning. The relevation, it was stunning to me. And the opportunities that it opened up for us."

Noble also revealed that he is pleased with the way the relationship between Walter and Peter (Joshua Jackson) was dealt with, saying: "We deliberately leave Walter and Peter in a state of truce. That's the best we can do. It would be cheating to do anything else at this time."

Meanwhile, executive producer Akiva Goldsman suggested that Walter and his alternate could meet in the next season.

"We certainly discussed Walter and Walternate interacting," he said. "And I think that is certainly to come. The promise of that I think is another lure to bring us back... The more distance you put between them, the more interesting when they finally meet."

Jasika Nicole, who stars as Astrid, added that the series could keep expanding.

"There have to be more than just these two universes," she said. "Surely there's a lot of alternate universes out there."
